We started to share our experiences…
A few years ago Ken and Elizabeth, with our friend Rodger, began meeting together over coffee to share how God encountered us—it wasn’t long before we realized our experiences were relevant and spoke directly to the needs many people face. So, we resolved to establish a resource for people longing to understand homosexuality better and find resolution, and Equipped to Love was born.
Ken and Elizabeth followed the Lord into sexual wholeness and today cast vision to countless others seeking God’s heart for their sexual identities. Drawing upon their combined experiences of walking away from homosexuality, they offer understanding of the issue that opens doors for compassion and understanding.
Equipped to Love was reaching individuals who have similar experiences, family members, friends, and church leaders until something unexpected happened…
…and “accidentally” started a movement.
In 2018, Assembly Bill 2943 was proposed which language banned all forms of efforts to change one’s sexual orientation. That was our story. That was what saved us. That was the hope of the Gospel we were sharing with others in our shoes.
We began calling our friends from around the country who had similar life experiences of leaving LGBTQ and we gathered together to share our stories of being CHANGED. Friends told other friends and soon strangers were gathering with us to share their stories of being CHANGED. We put together a book and a website to share our stores and more and more individuals came forward to join us.
Finally, there was a place of belonging for those who once identified as LGBTQ but left that identity behind to follow Jesus. God was building a movement of hope and freedom from our stories.
While our heart to offer understanding of the issue that opens doors for Biblical compassion and understanding has not changed, we realized the name which people recognized was CHANGED Movement. We began merging our resources, efforts, and vision under the banner of CHANGED Movement.
We’ve now become an international grass roots movement focused equipping churches, walking with individuals, and politically advocating for freedom of conscious and religion.
