My upbringing was one of traditional Christian values. There was a form of godliness without the power to actually change our lives and cause us to live righteously. Routinely, I watched my intoxicated father abuse my mother. God seemed silent, just like the power in my traditional Christianity. Hatred of men swelled in my heart, and my being sexually harassed only added to it.

For the next 25 years I lived as a lesbian. My life became all about sex, pornography, stealing, alcohol and deceit. I broke my family's trust and only looked out for myself. I was on the highway to hell with no plans of slowing down.

A post on my Facebook timeline brought me to a screeching halt. I read about a man that decided to follow Jesus after 27 years of practicing homosexuality. My calloused and angry heart had turned away from Jesus long ago, yet I began to cry. There was something about this story that was greater than my hate. I wondered, Why am I a lesbian? Suddenly, I had a new thought: God can also free me from homosexuality. The seed was planted.

In 2018 I became a follower of Jesus Christ. I let Him exchange all of my brokenness, pain, and hatred for His peace in return. I am convinced that no matter what happens, Jesus Christ will never leave me or forsake me. He will finish what He started, and I will always keep my eyes on Him.
